Diversity in Games is a club dedicated to promoting diversity and advocating for inclusion in the game industry. Started in 2024, I am one of the co-founders and current president of the club. We host discussions on topics in the game industry and how they are related to diversity, such as inclusion in esports, and equitable game studies. We also run social events for people interested in gaming. You can follow us on instagram @digmsu.
I founded Diversity in Games in January of 2024 in order to create a space for a variety of perspectives in gaming. As a co-founder and president of the club I am responsible for administrarive duties, external communications, and general club operations. I also work with the officers to plan, coordinate, and lead events; research topics and available resources to share with the club; and develop and maintaining club principles and policies.
One of our largest events was our game jam fundraiser for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund. Thanks to the efforts of students and community members alike, we were able to raise over $1,000 over the course of a month. As part of the Game Jam we offered events to bring together the community, such as exlcusive access to consoles and meeting rooms provided by the MSU Library, collaborative work sessions at local businesses, a silent auction, as well as a party to celebrate the fundraiser.
